About Susan May
Hello! I'm Susan May - wife, mom, teacher, writer, thinker, sharer and long-time peace-seeker. I've been on a journey (going on 20 years now) that has taken me off the "normal" paths. This unique journey prepared me for life in ways I never anticipated.
I founded RiseUP with Susan May in July of 2021 as a way to positively channel my knowledge, experience and passion into helping others. It is an ongoing journey of learning, collaborating, experimenting and most importantly - having fun!
In the Spring of 2023 I shut down my RiseUP community that supported Medical Freedom Advocates. It was a tough decision because I poured 2 years of my life into building it and I LOVED my members who were incredible human beings that inspired me daily. But I needed to take time to focus on my family and supporting my kids through another move.
After almost exactly a year, I decided to use everything I learned from that experience and start a new community that supports nonspeakers' families who want to create a thriving homeschool. I was joined by the awesome April Boden and Nonspeakers Homeschool Support was born.
Here are a few other areas I have knowledge and expertise in that have directly or indirectly helped me on my journey parenting Carter, our nonspeaking, autistic son: natural family planning, natural childbirth, hypnosis for childbirth, attachment parenting (cosleeping, breastfeeding, babywearing, elimination communication), parenting without punishment, home schooling/unschooling, alternative medical choices, and vitamin C.
